Grandpa's " Turkey " guns

Postby Jrhunter25 » December 9th, 2013, 10:10 pm

On Sunday I asked my grandpa if I could see his old shotguns. He said yes and down to the basement we went. He has three total " turkey " guns. A double barrel side-by-side 20 gauge for wabbit and pheasant, a Winchester Model 12 non vent rib pre 1970's 12 gauge 32 " barrel pump action shotgun, and a Sear's 2 3/4 only 12 gauge semi automatic. My grandpa originally got the Model 12 for duck, 20 for rabbit, and semi for anything. Hopefully he won't sell them so I can use them for hunting ! A friend of my grandpa's used his Model 12 for turkey. Got a big Tom at 50 yards with a extra full choke and heavy shot. The 32 " barrel helped out a lot though !

That is great. You two could learn a new sport together. I am trying to get my brother to do a rabbit hunt with my granddad's old Marlin pump. We would switch off.
Steve, I love "smoked" turkey
