Scopes spooking gobblers?

I feel certain that i have spooked severel turkeys with scopes (mostly short red dot style) that have those coated lens (like a floruscent red or yellow). Never had an issue with a standard scope or one with a sun shade. I set my shotgun down when this happened (unloaded) and went to were the gobbler was spooked and looked back at the shotgun and that scope stood out like a flare. Has anyone experinced this?

I have a Trijicon Reflex II on my gun and I noticed that too. Mine is yellowish and I wouldn't call it flare-like but it did glow a bit.

I can't remember it ever spooking a gobbler though. However I put the screen on it that came with the sight. That helped as far as I could see.

Another good reason to stay hidden in the shadows. Never sit with your back facing west with the sun in your face. The turkey will paint you quicker, and if you are shooting a reflex/red dot type sight, the coating on the lens can give you away. If the sun is in his eyes, all the better for you.
