Decision Time: They are Coming....No They Aren't

Postby TRapper » April 23rd, 2013, 9:57 am

we called 2 or 3 toms off the roost about 300 yards to us, they were just over the ridge and wouldn't come up over, gobbling/spittin and drummin for 30 minutes and then they went off to the northeast to an open field, then they continued to gobble at us from there for a half hour or so, then acted like coming back but instead just kept on going out to an open field across the road.....we went back to the car at about 8:10 a.m. and that is where we found em in the open field........5 toms and 10 or so hens

what would you do?

Without a doubt, if I had permission to hunt the field the gobblers were in then I would go after them. I woould try and sneak up to about 75 - 100 yards, depending on the terrain, and call the hens to me. If the terrain allowed me to I would sneak up even closer but either way I would not be heading home.
