Bolo ties

Postby Fan Club » February 25th, 2010, 12:38 pm

Snagged this off of E-Bay today. Don't wear real neckties much anymore as I had to wear them for work all through the 80s and most of the 90s. They don't go very well with camo anyway. Figure it'll come in handy for my local NWTF banquet or OTH funerals.

Anyone else have bolo they are proud of?

Guess not.

A month without a response must be telling me something. [;)]

Greetings. How do you politely and with much respect tell someone, "dude that thing is hideous"? That unique Bolo is probably a fan favorite for many but in my little opinion, looks like a refrigerator magnet stuck on a rope. A very very nice rope.

Well, I never said I was proud of this one, I guess my question just insinuates that. LOL. To tell you the truth Kawboy, I was just trying out a recently opened PayPal account and needed to buy something for a trial run. I did do some surgery on it and removed the tree stump and part of the base from the left side with a dremel tool which seemed to improve it a tad. I wore it to our NWTF banquet and didn't get any compliments so it looks like yours is the common concensus.

I looked in ernest for a cool bolo at the NWTF national convention and drew a blank. Was thinking about maybe a turkey track in scrimshaw or something similar. As for politely telling me it ain't cool (with due respect) I think you managed to do exactly that. My daughter also alerts me to fashion disasters, but usually does so by just busting out laughing!

You probably have a good idea in regards to having something scrimshawed. If you really want one made for your bolo i suggest going over to the cco website and putting up a post on that. I can imagine a very nice bolo made of antler with the scrimshaw and there are a few guys on that site that would probably shoot you a price for the work. PM me if you need a link to the website.

P.S. I used wear a bolo about ten years ago!

That might make an interesting hat band if you had a brim?
