Wing bone builder's question????

Can the bones be reshaped by some process?  I know cow horn can be pressed by heating with oil or over a heat source, but can bone?  I have them cleaned and drying.  I am almost ready to start to shape and assemble.

All I have ver done was sand them down or trim the length with a saw.

Hey Steve, you might ask Turkeycommander that question, all I've ever done is put them together as is using epoxy. Good luck and post up a pick when it's done. Also you might ask at oldgobbler.com.

Turkeycommander would be a good one to ask.  Personally I have used jeweler's files to shape the mouthpiece.  Sandpaper and a knife edge to clean and in some instances thin the bone and pipecleaners to clean the inside of the bones.  Hydrogen poroxide and sunlight work great to whiten up the bones.

I have come to prefer the Jordan style cane callers over the ones using larger bones of the turkey.  The instructions for the Jordan Caller can be found here:
