Nomenclature

Postby silvestris » February 3rd, 2009, 7:46 am

I find that there is some confusion when referring to calls or callers.

My opinion is that a call is the sound being made such as cluck, yelp, cutts, etc and that a caller is either the instrument being used or the person using the instrument.

Any other opinions?

I suppose the call, or the instrument being used, should technically be called a caller. But if the user is called the caller, then technically what he is calling with should be called a call. But then if the sound emitted is called a call, it would technically have to come from a caller, which at that point could be the call, the caller or both.

Hope this clears thing up.  [;)]

Stop the pain [:(]. I will be the first to admit I am not smarter then a 3rd grader when it comes to pronunciation and grammer. But I think I just done had flashbacks to the 3rd grade with nouns and verbs, maybe even a pronoun [:o] thrown in there somewhere.

Thanks for clearing that up Fan. [;)]

Who's on first?
