Turkey Purr???

I actually wad into bird watching when I was a kid so not knowing what made that sound bugged me cause I thought I knew every bird sound in Michigan and in da cement city where I grew up there were no turkeys so I figured it was a turkey! Learn something new every day! I saw an Oreiol but didn't get a pic...I pay attention to all of nature when hunting too!

Sounds like a Red-bellied WP to me.  Lots of them around here.

Been bird watching for 30 some years.  Great entertainment when the turkey are behaving badly!   Turkey hunting is a great way to brush up on bird songs.

Had a R-B Grosbeak land near me this week.  Was hoping it was a lucky sign!

Yeah, I did say Flicker at first, but wanted to write R-B WP.  Don't know why -brain is tired!

Saw a pair of Pileated WP on Sat.   Also during opening week, heard B-W Quail.  Haven't heard that in years.

It was a Northern Flicker and I got a good pic of it....Since we were talking Bird watching here I'll post this here too...

Turkey Hunting in the rain turned into Bird Watching except for a lone Hen...She stayed for about two hours though...Here's the Picture Story...

Wet Hen Stood here still for 30 Minutes...


Then she walked to 40 yards away...


Wet Hen and Indigo Bunting...


The Hen stayed in this spot for an hour drying off...


Then she walked right to my blind...


Then past it Toward my Pond before she Disappeared in the woods!

Nice bird pics! One has to appreciate the other things the Lord provides when there's a lull in the turkey actions.
