Turkey Purr???

Postby DonMcJr » May 9th, 2011, 8:17 am

Ok I've heard hens purr quiet when feeding. My question is do they purr real loud? I always hear a noise that sounds like a woodpecker pecking a tree...but faster and for a 3 second interval. Shortly after turkeys appear. I'll try and get a recording of it...

My opinion,,,the birds that are making that noise are seeing the turkeys and being birds telling the rest that there is a wobbling black blob below them walking around.I'm pretty shure thats not just a northern species of bird B/C I have heard them here in Ky as well.Critters like that often give away the whereabouts of approaching game.I pay attention to birds and squirrells around me when in the turkey woods and deer stands.
