Crystal or slate?

Postby hunter480 » May 7th, 2011, 8:52 am

I`m looking at a WoodHaven Custom Calls Cherry Classic friction call, and want to know what is the difference in the slate vs the crystal........

Is one more difficult to use?

Ok.....I was anxious to get this call ordered and want to use it for the last weekend of Indiana turkey season, so I ordered the crystal........

Hope I made a good call with the crystal rather than the slate.......

I have both. Both calls are really nice calls. You can get real soft with the slate and the crystal is a little louder. I think you'll be happy with the crystal. I use the purple heart striker

I went to the Woodhaven website, and you can actually play a short audio clip of each call, and the slate and crystal, both, sound out of this world.....WOW. I can`t wait to try this call out......

All I can say is WOW. This Woodhaven friction call is the first ever high end call I`ve ever bought, and I see you really do get what you pay for..............

The sound is excellent, the ease of use is crazy, and the sound will carry at least as well as any box call if you desire that.........

I cannot wait to try this on the birds in Indiana this upcoming, last weekend of season........

like a slate for the soft calling. have some woodhaven calls and some crane creek calls. you might want to try some custom calls. got a couple from willow ridge calls on this web site and he made me some nice glass calls. thinking about getting him to make me a slate call.

Can anyone tell me how to condition the face and striker of the crystal call?
