My Wingbone Yelper Pics...

Postby Matt Raymond » May 2nd, 2010, 12:41 pm

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to post a few shots of the wingbone yelper I made out of my 1st solo bird that I nicknamed "Silent Jake" Seems like a fitting tribute for a rookie bird that beat me the day before by coming in silent to my calling. The next day Silent Jake and I had words and he went home on my back. I'm really amazed how sweet this yelper sounds and the volume it can create...it will remain with me on every hunt from now on.

Nice looking call.  I bought one years ago (fake one) I could never get it to sound like a turkey.  That would be nice just to have around as a conversation piece.

Very sharp Matt . Fine looking call,,,,,,,,,,fine trophy,,,,,all in one . And they  can make some sweet sounds .
I've been foolin' with a wingbone and River Cane yelpers for just over a year . My consistency is not what I think it should be , but I'll still try it out on tom .

Thanks Guys,

Gooseberry, A few months back "Turkey and Turkey Hunting" Magazine had a nice how-to article about how to make one, and there is a bunch of info online. Once I saw the article, I knew that when I got my 1st solo bird, I would make a wingbone yelper out of it.

Very nice call Matt.  Great artistry with a deadly purpose [:D]

I am with Mark, I have the HS plastic one and I can't get it do squat so far.  I will keep practicing but I may have to invest in a 'real' one to see if i can make it sing for me.
I can't get any sleep!!!
