I had a gobbler come strolling in a field that I was in and tried some calling and he completely ignored me. After he got about 300 yards away I figured what the heck and tried a different call and he double gobbled and started coming back to me on a string. I would like to say that I killed him but a crow called above his head and he took off.
There is no rule set in stone because what worked today might not work again. If you can see the bird and he is not responding give him a few minutes and try a different call. Just don't throw your whole arsenal at him because you might be set up where he doesnt care to go.
Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.
