Another New One

Postby kenturkey89 » April 2nd, 2011, 2:45 pm

This is a call I just finished up today. It's a walnut pot that's slate over glass and is much cleaner than my first call I posted a couple days ago. I really took my time sanding and finishing this one and boy can I tell a difference. The pictures don't do it justice. Hope you like it!

Nice looking call. You can save yourself some sanding time by holding the wood over a pot of boiling water or a steam kettle. It don't take much and it will cause the small "hairs" to stand up and be sanded right off.

Thanks a lot guys! And Steve, I'll be sure to try that steam technique out on my next call to see how things turn out!

Thanks moyehow. I've quickly learned that sanding is what takes the majority of the time. I've gotten quicker at cranking out a pot with each one, but the sanding still takes some time. I try to make my calls look as good as I possibly can and a good sanding job is a big part of that.
