Cedar Slate

Just finished this today, a Cedar, slate over hickory, with a walnut/olive striker. She has a high front end, a great rollover, ending in some nice rasp, the cutts are sharp, the clucks are spitty, the purrs are higher and fast, the keekee is high and clear. She is looking for a home.

I do like cedar and slate combined and I bet it does chime with the sound bounceing around the Oak!Nice Call Scott

Olive on the striker? The tip or the top? What kind of olive wood.

The striker was a Walnut over Olive, and IMO olive is one of the nices woods for a slate surface, they play very easy on it and create a great sound for the calls. I believe it was Spanish olive for the shaft.
