Imitation, the greatest compliment

Postby Dixie Belle » September 16th, 2011, 4:26 pm

Scott,
When I saw your Gibson with the built in sound board, I started thinking (and for me, that can be dangerous). Can I build that into one of my calls? So, I started planning and building a couple of 6 inch boxes. These are the results. They both have poplar bodies. The one with smooth sides has a flame mahogany base and lid with a hard mahogany sound board. The lid can be changed to use two different pivot points, one centered, one offset. The one with the routed sides has a walnut base and mahogany lid with maple string inlay. It has a walnut sound board. The lid can be reversed so either side can be worked right handed (or left handed). Thanks for the inspiration, hope you don't mind the imitation. By the way I was pleasantly surprised by the overtones.
Thanks again and keep up your great work,
Ted

Sweeeeet glad it worked out for you. A soundboard will change the pitch and tone of a call, which really helps in those softer woods.
