I just finished this curly red oak call up this morning, first time using red oak for a pot call. It's a slate over hickory, that has a very unique sound to it. The yelps start out high then roll over into a deeper raspy finish, the chatter in the rasp is very fast, so the purrs are perfect, the cutts are clean and sharp, and the kee kees are a high pitched whistle. It has a golden yellowish color with white fine line curls in the wood, and the grain is a 3D speckled dark brown, makes for a very unique looking call. The striker is walnut/locust.
Congrats Dewey, she is all yours .
