I was at a garage sale a couple of weeks and they had a piece of Poplar 150+ years old. It was about 1" x 12" x 4' and was dead flat. It was from an old farmhouse. It was covered in paint and I could not see the grain or growth rings. Had some holes, no cracks I could see and probably some nails hidden under the paint. I should have plunked down the buck he wanted for it. If nothing else it was good birdhouse wood. Been bugging me ever since.

Steve, I love "smoked" turkey
