I use decoys quite a bit, if I'm hunting open fields. If I'm in the woods I tend to not use any at all. Early season I use a jake and a single hen, mid season I'll use a strutter and two hens, end of the season I use just a feeding hen. One thing I've found is that if you use a strutter keep him away from your hen decoys by about 10 - 15 yards. Birds seem to shy away from your dekes if the stutter is in close with your hens. I put my strutter at about 15 yards from me and my hens out about 25 yards. If I'm runnin and gunnin then I'll carry a roll up hen in my vest just in case I find a good set up spot?
