If I ever came to believe the wild turkey incapable of concious thought and the ability to reason, I would cease to hunt the wild turkey.  Perhaps I give the bird more credit than it is due, but I have observed behavior in the last thirty-five years that cannot be explained without some reasoning ability.  Maybe Mississippi turkeys are superior in that regard.
