Am I the only one who starts looking for birds this early? I like to watch the winter flock to get a head start on the spring season.I was out the other day and saw a few nice looking toms.Lots of hens an a few jakes.I think watching the jakes is a lot like money in the bank.They just may be next years or the year after's dinner.
 
I am lucky that most of the winter flock sticks around during the spring.There are a couple of streams and 3 fields that had corn planted in them this summer.Usually they are just hay fields.We will see how that affects the birds come spring.Im thinking it may help keeping more in the area.
