Postby shawn73 » May 22nd, 2009, 5:43 pm

should i be walking around til i get one to gobble or just sit and wait it out. i was thinking about parking my butt in a open field with some decoys and wait, i have a spot where i got one opening day. it can be seen from a long ways off, it is kinda in the middle of to very large fields, so i hope maybe with some decoys they will see it what do u guys think

Personally I do not do well walking around so I would recommend the strategy that you suggested.  I like to hunt fields or other strutting areas by sitting tight, calling conservatively, putting out a few decoys, and watching for birds that may come in silent.  The big key to success using this strategy is good scouting so that you are set up in a good area and have the confidence and patience to wait them out.
