Through the years I have purchased decoys as the fever rises before season, do the long beards see the difference in decoy types? Will it hurt to use inflatable bobble heads with hard bodied hens to show a small flock???
I don't know for sure, but my answer would be "sometimes yes, sometimes no." I remember a guy years ago who cut out a silhouette of a turkey from plywood and did a rough paint job. It worked. It's also possible to use nothing but a turkey fan as a deke. There was a post on here recently about that, referring to a
Field & Stream magazine article.
I think the best answer is not to become too reliant on decoys.
