Turkey Tip #4: Don't Ignore the Obvious

The most overlooked skills in turkey hunting are patience and planning. The better you know the turkeys in your area and what they do, the more likely you are to kill turkeys when they aren't gobbling. In many situations, sitting tight can be just as effective as making a move. You just have to learn to distinguish when to do it.

The two mistakes I want to avoid more than anything are overcallling and lack of patience.

That is why I've been going out to the lease twice a week to watch & listen for turkeys for about a month now. I want to know what's out there, where they prefer to hang out & travel, and to get my backside used to being planted without moving for long periods of time.  You can't know too much about where the turkeys like to go or be too ready for them.
