Stay positive boys...
My two best birds (inch and 1/2 spurs) were both taken on the last day of the Michigan season, May 31 st. That is truly your best opportunity to take a boss gobbler that was henned up through much of the season when the two year olds were being harvested.
The first I got off the roost by calling, he gobbled like crazy. The second we patterned and I was waiting in the right spot the next day. With full foilage out, you can get much closer to roosted and strutting birds than earlier. Also a Thermacell unit works miracles for the bugs. Get one, you won't regret it!
You can't get one unless you're out there!
